Rainforest Play Time

Nicholas is starting to move his hands and feet around all the time so I thought it was time to buy him a play gym toy. At first he just laid on the mat and stared with wide eyes at all of the colors and objects, but after awhile he started moving his hands to make some of the overhead objects move. He was a bit startled when the tiger was jolted and started playing a little song. Later he laid on his tummy and looked at himself in the mirror and held onto the big giraffe. All in all it was a fun afternoon with his rainforest friends!

Nicholas was baptized at Holy Redeemer Parish in Vancouver on August 24th. It was a beautiful ceremony attended by both our families. Both Brett, who lives in Florida, and Lyndsey, who lives in California were able to be there as Nicholas' Godparents. Afterward we had a gathering at my folks' place with lots of food and a yummy cake! Baby Nick enjoyed his special day with his family. Thank you to everyone who was there to celebrate with us!

Class at WSU Vancouver

Tonight was my first night of class since Nicholas' birth. After this one I only have 3 more left until I graduate with my Masters in Education! WooHoo! Anyway, Jeff and Nicholas had their own special evening together. I was so impressed when I arrived home at 9:15 and baby Nicholas was sound asleep in his crib after having a bath, a story, and a bottle. Daddy loved his one-on-one time with our little guy and I must admit it was so nice to go back to school and reconnect with fellow teachers again. I think it will be wonderful for Jeff and Nicholas to share Tuesday evenings together...it will be a little male bonding time!

3 months old

Three months old!
Hard at work on the computer
Plum tuckered out!
Playing with toy keys
He found his thumb
Nicholas is three months old today! He spent a relaxing day with mommy at the office and then snuggled up inside because this wacky northwest weather has brought us rain in August. Little Nick has started sucking his thumb when he can't find his binkie, likes to sit upright most of the time, and loves to look at what is going on around him all the time. He smiles regularly and makes all kinds of sounds including squeals and squeaks! These last three months have gone by so quickly and our little infant is turning into a growing baby before our eyes. We are excited to see what the next three months will bring!
We also wanted to say Happy 31st Wedding Anniversary to Grandpa and Gramme Hargrave! Yay for 31 years of wedded bliss!

First camping trip

Jeff and I took Nicholas on his first camping trip this weekend. We went camping on the Columbia River on Ackerman Island with friends and family. Nicholas was so good! He cooled off in the water, played in the shade, and even slept through the night! We will definetly take him camping again! The picture above is Evani holding Nicholas by the campfire.

Happy baby boy

Sweet baby face
So happy
Loungin' in his alligator robe after bathtime
Nicholas is growing so much every day! He has figured out how to fling his binkie out of his mouth and put it back in (if it's within reach). He is also holding his head up on his own when sitting upright on mommy or daddy's lap. He has started to get a little fussy before nap time...I guess he just doesn't want to miss out on any of the fun!

More fun with Uncle Brett

Sunday was Brett's 25th birthday! We went on the boat for a few hours and then went back to my mom and dad's house for a delicious dinner and yummy desserts!

Shop 'til you drop

Today my mom and I went shopping at Nordstrom for their Anniversary Sale. I have been avoiding buying any new clothing items because I still have 8 pounds to lose until I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I thought, "What the heck...I am dying to shop!" So I bought a couple tops, two pairs of jeans, a pair of shorts for Jeff, and some cute shirts and PJ's for Nicholas. Our little boy was such a trooper. He just lounged around the dressing room while my mom and I tried on outfits...we'll make a shopper out of him yet!

And in other news...

I rode again for the first time since Nicholas' birth! Jeff and I went to Eva and Chris' new place and borrowed their quads to ride in the field. Boy, it felt good to ride again! We are hoping to go to the dunes at the end of August or in early September for a whole weekend full of sand riding!

Uncle Brett is here!

Brett (who now lives in Florida) just flew into town today and will be here and in Seattle for the next month! Yay! Brett got to meet Nicholas for the very first time today and was so happy to see him in person finally. Grandpa, Gramme, (that's how she wants me to spell it), Uncle Brett, and Uncle Eric came over tonight for a pizza and beer dinner. It was a relaxing, fun evening!
