In exactly 5 days, Jeff and I will be flying off to Las Vegas for Jeff's sister's wedding. We are so excited considering we haven't been on a vacation since August 2007! We didn't even go on a honeymoon after our September 2007 wedding, so in light of that we are considering this Vegas trip our "mini-moon." While it may not be a full fledged-just you and I-romantic getaway, it will be our first trip since alone since Nicholas was born, thus making it a honeymoon of sorts.
I am so excited to be in Las Vegas with Jeff and experience it with a group of friends and family who will be there for Jami & Kris's wedding. The only other time I have been there was in 2004 with a group of girlfriends and we had a smashing good time, but did not get to see much of the attractions. This time I am wanting to walk through more of the hotels, ride the roller coaster on New York, New York, and have a romantic dinner with my husband on Friday evening after everyone else has flown home. I am also hoping we may have time to squeeze in a show, however we haven't purchased tickets for anything, so we have to see about that when we get there.
On the other hand, while we're away, my mom & dad will be watching Nicholas for us. Nicholas spends two days a week with my mom while I am at work so they are very close, but I know I am going to miss him terribly while we're away. I can't stand to be away from him for very long-6 hours (while I am at work) is about all I can handle-so 3 days is going to be torture! I know he's going to enjoy his time with Gramme & Grandpa because they spoil him like crazy, but I have a feeling this mama is going to be calling home quite often just to hear his sweet little voice!

Ah, he will be fine! I'm glad the two of you get to get away. Have a blast, and surely don't worry about your little man at home. He'll thrive on the attention from Grandma and Grandpa and he'll be thrilled to see you when you get home. Enjoy Vegas! Yeah!
Have an amazing time with your husband, such a special time to reconnect. We haven't left the kids either but keep saying we should...I was once told the best gift you can give your kids is to love your spouse-makes sense and taking this time for one another is a great way to keep being a 'couple', not just parents. Rest, relax and enjoy!!

Jessica,
I didn't realize that we'd be there at the same time and that you'd be staying on the strip. I know that you'll be super busy with the wedding but we'll be there until Thursday night staying at the Mirage. Last name Lucas obviously. No pressure. We're actually leaving in a couple of hours. Have a great time!!

Woo-Hoo!!! Have fun! I haven't been to Vegas since I was about 15 (for my grandparent's 50th). I know SO much has changed since then too!!
Pictures, Pictures please!
Where are you staying at?
I know how your heart breaks to be away from your baby mama :( But he's in good hands and is making a special connection with your parents by staying in their care ALL day long for 3 days
