Our little guy continues to amaze us in a daily basis! Recently he has decided he can hold his own bottle, but only if it's a small one, the bigger ones are a little tricky for him. I captured him feeding himself before bed the other day. I told Jeff that his hand coordination will help him with those ball handling skills when he grows up to be that professional basketball player every dad dreams of!

Jeff and I will celebrate one year of wedded bliss on Tuesday, September 30th! Because I have class on Tuesday evening, we decided to go out to dinner on Saturday instead. Last year my second grade class was kind enough to give Jeff and I a gift card to the Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River for a wedding gift. So we got all dressed up, drove the 45 minute scenic drive up the gorge, and dined on a delicious four course meal overlooking the Columbia River and the beautiful waterfall pictured above. It was a wonderful evening!
Happy 4 months!

Today Nicholas is four months old...I probably say this every time, but-wow-time flies when you're having fun! Today Nicholas spent the better part of the day lounging at home with mommy and daddy. Later in the afternoon the three of us headed up the hill to Chris and Eva's house for Alex's 2nd birthday party. Nicholas enjoyed seeing familiar faces and slept for several hours in mommy's arms-even when Daddy, Mommy, Aunt Jami, and Uncle Kris played Rock Band on the Wii. All in all it was a good day...the fall weather is definitely on its way...it was much colder today than last week. Fall will be an exciting time for Nicholas-there are lots of first holidays to look forward to, not to mention many milestones that Nicholas will hopefully meet in the coming months!

These are the ladies in the office who just love Nicholas. He is especially fond of Betty Jo (in the bottom photo). She is a volunteer who comes in two days a week. She makes Nicholas smile and giggle and takes him off Mommy's hands for 15 minutes so Mommy can make phone calls and get a bit of work done! Diane (in the red and white striped shirt) and Betty Jo like to tease each other saying that Nicholas talks to them and likes the other one better. Mary (in the green pants) is always talking to baby Nick in her sweet voice. Man, those ladies are going to miss him in a few weeks when Gramme starts to watch him while Mommy is at work.

Eating Rice Cereal
As you can see Nicholas got more rice cereal on his bib than in his mouth! He was so funny...he kept grabbing the spoon to try and play with it. Everytime I would feed him a spoonful of cereal he would push his lips together and spit it out. I will keep trying, eventually more cereal will start to go in his mouth and less food will go on himself!

Growing Baby
Nicholas had his 4 month check-up today. He now weighs 13 lbs 7 oz and is 24 1/4 inches long...we have a growing baby on our hands! He's in the 25th percentile for both height and weight. Mommy can tell he's heavier-especially when she's carrying him in his car seat! Dr. Thompson informed us that it's time to introduce rice cereal into Nicholas' diet. I'm sure he will be thrilled to try something other than milk! He had to have another round of immunizations today and he screamed again, but all was well a few minutes later when we were walking to the car and he was babbling and blowing bubbles.
Daddy has been taking lots of video footage of Nicholas on our new video camera (thanks Lyndsey and Lisa)! Today he caught Nicholas holding his own bottle-for the entire duration of drinking his milk! He is also becoming more coordinated. He can take his binkie out of his mouth and hold onto it. He also graps toys and brings them to his mouth...everything seems to go in his mouth these days!
We love, love, love our growing little boy. Each day brings new and exciting things! We can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!
