It's spring in the Pacific Northwest which means that we have bright, beautiful, warm sunny days interspersed amongst many, many, many days where all it does it rain. Non-stop.
On the days filled with sunshine, we all crave to be outside in the fresh air. One evening a couple of weeks ago, Ella and I took an evening bike ride around the neighborhood. She loves her new bike with training wheels and can pedal with some speed on the open road.
Nicholas is finally back to baseline and feeling great! He is smiley, talkative, and so happy to be feeling back to normal. I love to see this adorable, humongous smile back on his face everyday. It was hidden behind tears and sleepy eyes while he was sick all those months.
We also spend much of the sunny days in our backyard. I usually do yard work while Ella plays with Nicholas.
Since there are not too many dry, sunny days, most of our spring has been spent indoors finding ways to keep busy and creative.
Ella was given several princess dress-up clothes from a friend's two daughters and she has enjoyed playing in them these past couple of weeks.
She has the right coloring for a mini Snow White, don't you think?!
Ella likes to put on puppet plays for her brother and try to make him smile. I got out the princess/knight/dragon puppets that used to be in my first grade classroom for her to play with and she made up the funniest skit about a princess defeating a dragon to save the Knight. I love her imagination!
Raindrops gather on all the blooming spring plants.
My mom surprised me one afternoon with these beautiful daffodils from her garden. They made our dining area so lovely!
Since Nicholas is finally off bi-pap, he spent one whole day wearing his new Cars hat that I brought him from Disneyland. He thinks it's so special to have a hat that is just like the ones his daddy wears all the time. I think it will come in handy this summer when we are out and about in the hot summer sun.
And the best part of rainy days is waiting for a break in the showers and stomp in muddy puddles. On Tuesday we got home from Nicholas' speech therapy appointment in the early afternoon and had to sit in our vehicle in the driveway for about ten minutes to wait out the absolute downpour (complete with hail) that was upon us. Afterward, Ella asked to put on her rain boots and stomp in the puddles that gathered at the end of our driveway.
Oh, the simple joys of childhood!
